Costco’s Brand-New Dessert Is So Good Fans ‘Went Back for 4 More Boxes’ – Latest Food News Update

One of summer’s greatest pleasures as a kid is reaching into the freezer to grab a frozen treat on a hot day. Whether it’s an ice cream sandwich, a popsicle, or sneaking a couple of spoonfuls straight out of an ice cream container (and then putting it back in the freezer before a parent catches you), the promise of those sweet treats is part of summer’s magic. 

As adults, we still like our summer treats (and will still occasionally sneak a spoonful straight from a carton when no kids are around). However, we also enjoy indulging in something a bit more elevated after a day outside gardening or playing pickleball. And now, there’s a new dessert at Costco that we would definitely classify as an elevated spin on a favorite childhood treat—and we have our eyes on it.

Costco’s New Ricco Gelato Sea Salt Caramel Snickerdoodle Sandwiches

While the rectangular chocolate wafer ice cream sandwiches from our youth will always remain a classic, there are now so many fun takes on the frozen treat, from Trader Joe’s version that highlights chocolate chip cookies and TJ’s new Macaron Ice Cream Sandwich, which dropped last month.

Now, we can add Costco to our growing list of places to get fancy ice cream sandwiches. Instagram’s @Costcohotfinds recently spotted Ricco Gelato Sea Salt Caramel Snickerdoodle Sandwiches in the freezer section and ripped one open before she even got out of the store.

“These are so soft and delicious,” she commented in the video, which revealed she was sitting at none other than the Costco food court. Clearly, she chose to eat dessert first, and we can’t blame her. 

The Ricco Gelato ice cream sandwiches feature salted caramel gelato flanked by two soft snickerdoodle cookies—and just the description alone is enough for us to know they need to go in our shopping cart.

What do Costco shoppers think of these cookies? “Best ice cream sandwich EVER. The cookie part is the best! My kids and I are in heaven,” someone commented on the video. Another person added, they are “so hard to resist.” One fan was so impressed with them that she went back and bought more. “OMG! I bought these this morning and went back for 4 more boxes!!!! Incredible ice cream sandwiches!!!!”

Each box contains eight Sea Salt Caramel Snickerdoodle Sandwiches for $15.99. That means someone was so impressed, she dropped an additional $63.96 to make sure her freezer is stocked with enough ice cream sandwiches to last her for quite some time.

According to the dessert’s manufacturer, Villa Dolce Gelato, who commented on the video, the ice cream sandwiches are currently only available in Costco stores in Texas, but it hopes “to get them across the country soon!”

We hope so, too. We really hope so, because these look too delicious to pass up.
