Cooking bacon is one of those kitchen experiences that we’re always trying to simplify. Between the hot grease splattering all over your stove-top (and arms!) and discovering limp bacon even after 30 minutes in the oven, it can be a frustrating process.
As annoying as making it can be, hot, crispy bacon is one of life’s simplest pleasures. Whether on a BLT, wrapped around juicy chicken, or just enjoyed with a plate of eggs, bacon is worth the headache.
Because bacon can be finicky, almost every home cook has their unique way of making it. Some people swear by the simple skillet cooking, while others opt for the oven, microwave, or air fryer. Recently, one TikToker showed her method for cooking bacon—and while it did involve stove-top frying, the actual tool she used is what blew our minds.
TikTok user Jenifer shared a video of cooking bacon in a pot on the stove.
“Anyone else cook bacon this way? Just me?” she captioned the video, which now has more than 12 million views. “You don’t get the splatter and it all cooks and is done at the same time.”
The minute-long video shows raw bacon in a small sauce pan as Jenifer tosses it around with a pair of tongs. As the video goes on, you see the bacon cooking down and crisping as the grease bubbles around it. In the end, Jenifer is left with a plate full of evenly cooked, crispy bacon and a pot of grease with no mess on the stove top.
If you were skeptical in the beginning of the video, the end results really speak for themselves. Plus, if you think about it, the method makes sense.
A sauce pan with high sides will keep the bacon grease from spitting over the edge and speckling your stove, counters, arms, and clothes with hot oil.
As for the crispiness, as one TikTok commenter pointed out, you’re basically “deep frying the bacon in its own fat.” If that grease can impart flavor into your veggies and eggs—and traditional oil can crisp up fried chicken in minutes—why can’t it do the same to the pork that it comes from?
So, if you’re ready to try the method that TikTok users have called “genius,” it’s incredibly easy.

Simply add your raw bacon strips—no need to cut them or pre-treat them in any way—to a stock pot or sauce pan with high sides. The pot doesn’t need to have a lid since you’ll be working the bacon while it cooks anyway—and the sides will keep the splatter at bay on their own.
Cook the bacon on the stovetop as you normally would, tossing the meat every so often with tongs until it reaches your desired level of crispiness. Once done, transfer the bacon to a paper-towel lined plate to drain and discard the grease—or save it to add exceptional flavor to some of your favorite dishes.
The best part—aside from the delicious, perfectly crispy bacon—is that you won’t have to clean your stovetop since there will be no splatter or greasy mess left behind. Mealtime doesn’t get much better than that.
