Shake Shack Has a New Dubai Chocolate Shake—and We Tried It First – Latest Food News Update

Shake Shack has always been known to push the envelope with its menu items. Between its truffle menu, Cherry Blossom Shake, and bourbon-infused bacon jam, the chain has never shied away from adding high-quality, out-of-the-box items to its fast food menu.

This spring, Shake Shack has done it again by becoming the first fast food chain to introduce a Dubai Chocolate item to its menus. And, of course, it comes in the form of Shake Shack’s famous custard shakes.

Shake Shack Launches New Dubai Chocolate Pistachio Shake

The Dubai Chocolate bar went incredibly viral on social media in late 2023 when a TikTok user, Maria Vehera, shared a video of herself eating the “Can’t Get Knafeh of It” bar from the Dubai-based Fix Dessert Chocolatier. The chocolate bar is filled with a creamy mixture of pistachio, tahini, and crispy knafeh (a phyllo dough pastry)—and now brands like Ghirardelli and Lindt are trying to recreate it. 

Shake Shack used the bar and its crispy texture and decadent flavors as inspiration for its latest shake, which it first introduced in Dubai restaurants in February and has since expanded across the Middle East. The Dubai Chocolate Pistachio Shake features all the components of the famous Dubai Chocolate bar—all the way down to the crack of the chocolate and crispy pastry pieces. 

Shake Shack’s Dubai Chocolate Pistachio Shake is made with pistachio custard mixed with toasted kataifi shredded phyllo, all in a cup with the chain’s first-ever magic shell. The crackable dark chocolate shell is prepared and frozen in place, so when customers get the shake, they can squeeze the cup and get the same satisfying crunch as they would from the bar. 

The shake is also topped with chopped pistachios and crunchy kataifi.

Shake Shack’s new Dubai Chocolate Pistachio Shake is hitting menus on April 7, but, because it’s so labor-intensive, there’s a catch. The brand is only releasing the shake at certain Shacks across the country and will only serve 25 per day.

Shake Shack expects its Dubai Chocolate Pistachio Shake to sell out daily, so if you want to give the $7.99 luxurious shake a try, you’ll have to get to your restaurant early.

My Honest Review of Shake Shack’s Dubai Chocolate Pistachio Shake

As a fan of Dairy Queen’s dipped cone, I was excited to see the hard chocolate shell in this shake. It adds a fun, unique element to the shake that takes it from a pistachio shake with chocolate chips to a Dubai Chocolate-style shake with crunchy chocolate shards. 

The trick with this milkshake is that you have to eat it with a spoon. Because of the chocolate pieces and all the great toppings, you’ll want to get all the flavors in one bite, rather than trying to suck up the chocolate pieces and pistachios with your straw. 

The pistachio custard itself is delicious and has quite a nutty-forward flavor. This is Shake Shack’s first nut-flavored shake in years, and the test kitchen was excited about what that could mean for more nutty shakes in the future—as was I. 

Overall, the Dubai Chocolate Pistachio Shake is incredibly good and tastes like something you’d find at a fancy ice cream parlor in Las Vegas rather than for eight bucks at a Shake Shack. I have a feeling the shake is going to be pretty coveted, so, if you want to try it, be sure to take an early lunch so you can get to Shake Shack before it sells out.
