About this tool
Find profit margin and markup from cost and price, or the price for a target margin.
Margin = (price − cost) ÷ price. Markup = (price − cost) ÷ cost. For a target margin m: price = cost ÷ (1 − m); for a target markup k: price = cost × (1 + k).
Formula: Margin = (P − C)/P · Markup = (P − C)/C
Example: What do you want to calculate? = Margin and markup from a price, Cost = 60, Price = 100 → Selling price = 100, Profit = 40.
Prices are before tax. Margin can never reach 100%.
