About this tool
Compare two texts with several measures — similarity %, edit distance, Hamming, longest common subsequence, shared words (Jaccard), cosine and Dice — or list the n-grams of one text.
Similarity % is 1 − Levenshtein distance ÷ length of the longer text, counted in visible characters. Jaccard compares the sets of words, cosine their frequencies, Dice the shared letter pairs.
Example: “kitten” vs “sitting” → edit distance 3, similarity 57.14 %.
These measure spelling, not meaning: “car” and “automobile” score low. Use Diff Checker to see exactly which lines changed.
