About this tool
Estimate how many tiles you need for a floor or wall, including grout gaps and waste.
Tiles = area × (1 + waste) ÷ ((tile length + gap) × (tile width + gap)), rounded up.
Formula: N = ⌈A(1 + w)/((l + g)(b + g))⌉
Example: Area length (m) = 5, Area width (m) = 4, Tile length (cm) = 60, Tile width (cm) = 60, Grout gap (mm) = 3, Extra for waste = 10 → Tiles needed = 61.
Use 10% waste for straight layouts and 15% or more for diagonal patterns.
