PDF Metadata Editor & Cleaner

View and edit a PDF’s title, author, subject, keywords, creator and producer, or remove all metadata — verified by re-reading the new file.

In the browser

The PDF is edited on your device and never uploaded. After saving, the new file is opened again to verify what it really contains.

About this tool

View and edit a PDF’s title, author, subject, keywords, creator and producer, or remove all metadata — verified by re-reading the new file.

The PDF is opened with a PDF object library (not by editing raw bytes). Editing rewrites the document-information dictionary; cleaning empties it and removes the XMP metadata stream from the document and its pages. The saved file is then opened again and every field is read back before any result is shown.

Example: a report showing “Author: j.smith” and “Producer: Word 2016” can be saved with a new title and author, or cleaned so the re-read file shows no metadata.

Metadata is only one place where information hides; images, attachments and form fields can contain more. Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked first.

Quick steps

  1. Choose your files — they stay on your device.
  2. Set the options and check the preview or the test results.
  3. Download the result. Your original files are never changed.

Files are processed in your browser and are not uploaded to 1CLIK.
