About this tool

Turn text into Unicode code points, UTF-8 / UTF-16 / UTF-32 units, or HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Python escapes — and back. Inspect every character’s category and script.

Text is read by code point (an emoji is one code point, two UTF-16 units, four UTF-8 bytes). Decoding understands U+XXXX, &#…;, \u…, \u{…}, \U…, and CSS \XX escapes mixed in normal text.

Example: “é😀” → U+00E9 U+1F600; in UTF-8: C3 A9 F0 9F 98 80.

Some visible characters are several code points (a flag, a family emoji, a letter with a combining accent) — “Visible characters” counts them as one.

Quick steps

  1. Paste your text or open a file (or press Try an example).
  2. Choose the options — the result updates as you type.
  3. Copy the result or download it as a file.

Everything runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to 1CLIK.
